We’re not full-time nomads, but simplifying made all the difference. The more we let go, the more space we made for what matters. Here’s to a rhythm that fits.

That is such a beautiful way to express what we've found—the more we let go, the more space we have for what matters. And exactly HOW we do that can vary widely for each person. I love your simplified RV life! Thanks so much for reading and sharing this great perspective :)

The thing that sticks out the most to me in your first 3 installments is how the universe has had a way of opening the exact right path for you guys at the exact time you needed it. Serendipitous!

I am excited to follow along as your nomadic adventure unfolds. My husband and I are still at the declutter and sell off all our things step, but looking forward to joining the open road of nomadism within the next year.

Megan, congratulations! We are having the time of our lives, and I know you will too (once the hard stuff like decluttering is done). Thanks for finding us here--don't be a stranger!

Thanks so much for sharing this, Megan! I'm honestly thrilled for you and your husband. It can be a slog untethering yourselves for the transition to being nomads, but the journey is SO worth it! Please keep us posted on your transition and don't ever hesitate to ask us any questions. We'd love to help if we can :)

I got very obsessed with vehicle living about 10 years ago, but that was the result of a ton of financial anxiety and thinking about "how little could I live on if everything fell apart?" Different vibe! But not unrelated! I wrote about it, and am dropping the link because I think you'd like it. It's one of my favorite things I've ever written: https://imagejournal.org/article/the-uncontained-life/ (And I still have the minivan, just in case.)

This is a terrific piece, Sara. And now I'm wondering why we never watched Nomadland. It's been in our queue for years.

Thank you so much for sharing this! I totally agree that, while it may have had a different catalyst, it's very related to our story and this journey we're on. And wonderfully written and insightful as always!

It's so brave of you two to have done this. As you know, about 8 years ago, we actually UPsized and while we don't have any regrets and love our property, it's a lot. Some days, Deke (half?) jokes about condo living. Maybe, maybe if we can bring ourselves to be pet-free, one day we'll follow in your footsteps. Probably not, though, we love our pets. A lot. An unhealthy amount, really.

Thanks for that encouragement Joanne! It was a long journey to get here and we love it. That said, it's not for everyone and there are certainly things we miss. You do you! If the house and pets work for you in this season, that's wonderful. Like you said, in a future season, you and Deke might be ready for a change. Until then, enjoy the house and the fur babies!

Just reading all of those real estate mishaps and then post-Covid Tempe had me twitching! No, no, no! LOL. But kudos to both of you for being adventurous enough to go ahead and make the leap!

Haha! I have reflexive twitching myself just thinking back on that season. SO glad to be free of all that. Thanks for your wonderful example that helped us have the courage to make the leap!

Your story is very inspiring. I love how you faced each hurdle with patience and quiet determination, trusting the process until it all finally came together. I can only imagine the sense of relief and freedom you must’ve felt driving away from your condo for the last time. I’ve really enjoyed following your journey.

That means so much Ibtissam! It was a long road with a lot of bumps, but you're right - the relief and freedom at the end made the hardships SO worth it. Thanks for reading!

Thank you, Ibtissam. If I remember correctly, it was about 115 degrees F that day we left the condo, and once we were on the road with the A/C blowing, everything felt amazing.
